Tuition

The tuition amount for the Master in Science in Data Science degree is $1,600 per credit hour. There are a total of 30 hours of credit required for successful completion of this degree. The total cost of the degree is $48,000.

Financial Aid

Domestic Students

  • Federal Loans
    • The University of New Haven participates in the federal financial aid program and is committed to assisting our Graduate students in the financing of their education. Federal Direct Student Loans are the primary financial aid source for graduate students.
    • To apply, please complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.FAFSA.ed.gov
      • You must list the University of New Haven as one of the schools entitled to receive this information and
      • List our Title IV school code: 001397
      • A new FAFSA must be completed for each academic year
      • Must be a U.S. citizens or permanent resident
      • Our Financial Aid Office is here to assist you in making the right choices in financing the valuable investment of higher education. We are committed to making the entire financial aid process understandable and user friendly. Our Financial Aid staff is readily available to answer questions and assist you.
      • Federal Direct Loan Programs for domestic graduate students.

Direct Unsubsidized Loan

  • Lower fixed interest rate (or just 5.31% fixed interest rate as of July 1, 2016)
  • Higher origination fee (or just 1.068 loan origination rate)
  • Interest begins to accrue on the date of your first disbursement. The student may defer the principal and the interest may be capitalized.
  • Must be enrolled at least half time (5 academic credits). Loan goes into repayment if you drop below half-time status.
  • Maximum total loan amount (up to cost of attendance) is $20,500 per academic year
  • Must file a FASFA
  • Apply for unsubsidized loan at www.studentloans.gov. Login using your FSSA ID and complete two required steps: Loan Entrance Counseling & Master Promissory Note (MPN).

Direct Graduate PLUS Loan

  • Higher fixed interest rate (or just 6.31% fixed interest rate as of July 1, 2016)
  • Higher origination fee (or just 4.272% loan origination fee)
  • Eligibility based on the borrower’s credit worthiness. Loan approval contingent upon credit check by the U.S. Department of Education
  • In-school interest. Interest begins to accrue at disbursements. The student may defer the principal and the interest may be capitalized.
  • Must be enrolled at least half time (5 academic credits). Loan goes into repayment if you drop below half-time status.
  • Students can borrow up to the full cost of attendance, less the amount of other federal and private aid received.
  • Must file a FASFA
  • Apply for the Graduate PLUS loan at www.studentloans.gov. Login in using your FSSA ID and follow instructions to “Apply for a PLUS Loan.”
Please complete the following steps once you submit your FAFSA

  1. Officially accept your award with the University of New Haven Financial Aid Office.
  2. Electronically sign your Direct Loan Master Promissory Note at www.studentloans.gov. Signing the Promissory Note indicates your commitment to repay the loan you are borrowing.
  3. Complete an Entrance Counseling session online at www.studentloans.gov. This is a federal requirement which lets you know your rights and responsibilities as a federal student loan borrower.

International Students

International students will need to demonstrate that they have the sufficient funds to cover tuition and living expenses for the entire duration program by filling out a financial statement.

Private Grants & Scholarships

Many organizations offer support for international students and we encourage you to explore these private grant and scholarship opportunities. You should contact any civic, fraternal, religious, or service organizations with which you are already affiliated to see if they offer any assistance.

Government Support

Some countries provide support for their citizens who are studying in the United States. Please contact your country’s ministry of education, embassy, or consulate about possible funding.

Private Alternative Loans

Private alternative loans help bridge the gap between the cost of attendance and the amount of financial aid you receive. Eligibility for private education loans depends on your credit score and may require a credit-worthy co-signer.
